21st ACES-ACEM Dialogue

The annual dialogue between ACEM and its Singapore counterpart, Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES) was held on 8 November 2025 at the Hatten Hotel Melaka. This year’s meet marked the 21st instalment of the annual dialogue between the two Associations.

Issues raised by ACEM for discussion were Digital Design Automation Platform (DDAP) and the recent sinkhole incident in Singapore. Er. Choong Choon Guan detailed ACES’s journey from 2020 to 2024 in development of the DDAP while Er. Gwee Siong Mong gave a brief overview of the sinkhole incident that happened on 26 July 2025 at Tanjong Katong Road South.

ACES, on the other hand, sought insights on green data centres and the recent seismic activities in Malaysia. Ir. Chong Chew Fan covered recent developments on data centres in Malaysia, including sustainable challenges, policies and incentives. Ir. Amin Ramli presented a quick brief on “Seismic Shift: Earthquakes, Mitigation and Engineering Awareness in Malaysia.” This year’s significant bilateral meeting was hosted by ACES.
