The inaugural Site Supervision Course (SSC) was conducted by ACEM in 2016. It was kick-started with the Geotechnical module under the Civil Engineering Discipline, followed by the Cold Water & Sanitary Plumbing Module and the Fire Protection Systems, under the Mechanical Engineering Module. Site Supervisors’ or Inspector-of-Works (IOW), used to be known as Clerk-of-Works decades ago, play a significant role by being the Consulting Engineers representative on site. As such, after numerous discussions between BEM and ACEM since 2016, it was concluded that the registration of the IOWs be regulated by BEM. All IOWs who possess a diploma in engineering and are employed by an ECP have to be registered under Section 7(2)(a) of the Engineers Act of 1967 (revised 2015).
The main objective of the SSC is to enable the IOWs to meet the necessary CPD requirements. Engineers and Technologists are also encouraged to attend.
In July and August 2024, the ACEM Webinar Series Site Supervision Course Discipline Module focused on Mechanical discipline took place from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. A total of 510 participants registered for this engaging webinar series.
The speakers for this module were Ir. Au Chong Hun, known for his diverse experience in various project types such as high-rise buildings, offices, residential developments, and more. Ir. Dr. N.
