Courtesy Call on the Director General, Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu

The Courtesy Call on the Director General of Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu (DBKK) took place on 18 March 2025 at the DBKK Office. Organized by ACEM Sabah, the meeting aimed to discuss key urban development issues affecting Kota Kinabalu.

Led by ACEM Sabah Chairman, Datuk Ir. Chin Shu Ying, the delegation included Deputy Chairman Ir. Benny Song Perng Yeu, as well as past chairmen Ir. Ts. Tan Kok Jyh, Ir. Tan Koh Yon, Ir. Joe Chow Wai Ming, and Ir. Lo Chong Chiun. The delegation met with the Director General of DBKK, Sr. Lifred Wong, to engage in discussions regarding various urban planning and infrastructure concerns.

During the meeting, ACEM Sabah provided insights on the progress of DBKK’s new Building By-Law, which was anticipated to be finalized within the year. Additionally, concerns about traffic congestion in Kota Kinabalu, particularly in high-density areas, were raised. The delegation had the opportunity to engage with DBKK’s Traffic Committee to understand ongoing strategies and planned solutions for improving traffic conditions.

Another key focus of the discussion was the role of DBKK’s High Risk Committee in overseeing safety measures and risk management for the city’s infrastructure. The delegation and DBKK representatives explored collaborative efforts to enhance urban safety and resilience through better engineering solutions.

The meeting served to strengthen cooperation between ACEM Sabah and DBKK, fostering discussions that aimed to improve urban planning and infrastructure development in Kota Kinabalu. The engagement reaffirmed the importance of continuous dialogue and collaboration in addressing the city’s evolving challenges.
