On February 28, 2024, at Hotel Armada Petaling Jaya, a Seminar Application of Earthing & Lightning Protection took place from 08:30 am to 12:20 pm. Attended by a total of 40 participants, the event aimed to shed light on crucial aspects of soil resistivity testing, earth resistance calculation, risk management in lightning protection systems, and the significance of utilizing Risk Management software simulations.
The seminar featured two esteemed speakers, each bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to the forefront. Mr. Chan Chin Loon, with 14 years of hands-on involvement in earthing, lightning, and surge protection systems, captivated the audience with his insights. Currently leading the technical department at Pekat Engineering, Mr. Chan shared the extensive knowledge he had gained from working on prominent projects such as MRT, LRT, KL118, and Ikea Warehouse. His expertise in engineering substation earthing, backed by software simulations, added depth to the discussions.
Following Mr. Chan’s presentation, Mr. Yeffry Wiyana took the stage. As a Regional Sales Manager with a focus on earthing and lightning protection systems, Mr. Yeffry emphasized the importance of building competency and experience in this field. His role involves collaborating closely with project consultants and contractors, providing technical insights and training, and facilitating seminars to promote understanding and adoption of effective protection systems.
