The Lift and Escalator Seminar officially commenced on 10 February at 9.00 a.m., bringing together 47 participants from various companies across Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. The full-day session was led by Soon See Leak, an engaging and insightful speaker who captured the audience’s attention from the very beginning. With extensive experience in vertical transportation design and industry standards, he provided valuable practical perspectives throughout the seminar.
The seminar was thoughtfully structured into morning and afternoon sessions, each incorporating a tea break to allow participants ample time for discussion, networking, and reflection. The morning session covered lift components, installation processes, MS EN 81-20 compliance, the Amended Act 514 and new regulations, approval requirements, and escalator planning in accordance with MS 1918.
In the afternoon, participants explored elevator planning concepts, lift traffic performance criteria, zoning considerations, shaft sizing, stretcher lift requirements, motor room ventilation, and conducted actual lift traffic analysis using a web-based Lift Traffic Calculation. The seminar was conducted in a focused and engaging learning environment throughout the day.
