On September 5, 2023, a pivotal webinar “The Role of System Assurance in Successful Delivery and Opening of Railways for Public Use” brought together a diverse group of more than 50 participants with a common goal: understanding the critical significance of System Assurance in railway projects. The webinar was moderated by Ir. Foo Kam Fai. In this two-hour session, attendees delved into the intricacies of ensuring the safety and reliability of rail systems prior to their public debut.

The speaker is Mr. Bassam Mansour, a highly experienced professional with an impressive background in the railway industry. Currently serving as the MRT Line 2 ICE Project Director, he has a rich history of involvement with the British Railways Board. Bassam’s career has seen him progress through various roles, ranging from Supervisory to Senior Management positions, across different disciplines within the railways sector. With over three decades of experience, his expertise extends to Conventional and High-Speed Rail and Metros.

The primary goal of this webinar is to offer an interactive session focused on clarifying and acquainting participants with the System Assurance (SA) concept. It emphasizes the importance of SA in the verification and validation processes required before a railway project can be opened to the public. The application of System Assurance is a mandatory prerequisite for obtaining regulatory approval for railways.

Furthermore, this webinar aims to serve as a valuable resource for various stakeholders, including Rail Authorities, Operators, Maintainers, Contractors, and Manufacturers.
