On 27 March 2025, the Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM) Sabah Branch paid a courtesy call on the Penasihat Teknikal (Tenaga) kepada YAB Ketua Menteri Sabah, Datuk Dr. Jim Lim, at the Pejabat Ketua Menteri Sabah, Menara Kinabalu, Jalan UMS, Kota Kinabalu. The delegation was led by ACEM Sabah Chairman, Datuk Ir. Chin Shu Ying, and included Committee Members Datuk Ir. Ts. Br. Dr. Amarjit Singh, Ir. Tan Koh Yon, and Past Chairman Ir. Amirul Hisham Hj Ismail.
During the meeting, the ACEM Sabah representatives introduced the current committee members and explored the branch’s potential contributions to the state government’s initiatives, particularly in addressing Sabah’s energy challenges. The discussions also covered the importance of ensuring that consulting engineers in Sabah possessed recognized professional qualifications and competencies to guarantee high-quality engineering services. Datuk Dr. Jim Lim welcomed ACEM Sabah’s commitment to strengthening relationships and collaboration with government agencies, industry, and other organizations, emphasizing that such cooperation was crucial for delivering efficient engineering solutions that met established standards.
Both parties recognized the meeting as an important platform for exchanging views and reinforcing collaboration in the fields of engineering and energy, especially in the context of Sabah’s sustainable development agenda. Critical issues discussed included the role of consulting engineers in the state’s clean energy transformation, adherence to engineering standards in development projects, and the integration of green technologies into infrastructure. The participants agreed to intensify cooperation between ACEM and state agencies, particularly in sharing technical expertise and implementing engineering solutions that supported sustainable development goals.
Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the need to enhance awareness of best practices in sustainable engineering to ensure Sabah’s progress towards low-carbon development and energy resilience. Datuk Dr. Jim Lim expressed hope that the close cooperation between ACEM and the state government would continue, contributing to the realization of Sabah’s sustainable development vision.
