The Induction Course for new Civil and Structural (C&S) Engineers was held from May 13th to 15th, 2024, at Hotel Armada Petaling Jaya. The event ran daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and was attended by 50 participants. The primary objectives of the course were to introduce professional C&S consulting engineering services to new engineers and to enhance their skills in the engineering design environment.
The target audience included civil or structural engineers with less than two years of experience, as well as new engineers in government and semi-government departments involved in civil or structural design work. The course covered a broad range of topics essential for C&S engineering practice, including professional practice, site investigation for buildings and civil works, interpretation of field and laboratory test results for design, structures, earthworks, roads, drainage, traffic, water supply, and sewerage.
The lecturers were esteemed professionals from various consulting firms, including Ir. Chen Chean Sin, Ir. Dr. Gue Chang Shin, Ir. Dr. Lee Yun Fook, Ir. Liam We Lin, Ir. Ng Ken Seng, Ir. Ravi Shankar, Ir. Walter Sim Kian Joo, Ir. Dr. Tee Horng Hean, and Ir. Wong Keng Liang. This course provided a comprehensive introduction and practical guidance for new C&S engineers to succeed in their professional roles.
