ACEM conducted a webinar titled “Fundamental Understanding of Hydro Power Scheme from STEM Perspective, Engineering Practices, Social and Environmental Impacts” on 22 January 2026, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, attended by 55 participants.
The webinar provided an overview of hydropower as a renewable energy source, covering fundamental STEM principles, types of hydropower schemes, and basic control systems in power generation. Practical aspects of project planning, design, operation, and maintenance were also discussed, along with lessons learned from past hydropower projects.

The session was delivered by Ir. Liew Shaw Shong, Senior Director and Founder of G&P Geotechnics Sdn Bhd, who has over 33 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering and has published more than 95 technical papers locally and internationally.
