On Saturday, 8 November 2025, the ACEM Talk for Practising Engineers 2025 was held at Hatten Hotel Melaka, drawing 18 practising engineers from across the industry. The half-day programme ran from 8.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m., focusing on current developments, challenges, and practices within the consulting engineering sector.
The event began with a welcome address by Ir. Amirul Hisham b. Ismail, Chairman of the ACEM Membership Committee. Participants then attended a series of technical presentations, starting with “Sustainable Building – What Can a Consulting Engineer Do?” by Ir. Chong Chew Fan, ACEM Immediate Past President. This was followed by “SPPI vs Annual PI Cover: Which One Fits Your Projects?” presented by Aon Insurance Brokers (M) Sdn Bhd, and “Implementing BIM in Consultancy: Experience & Insights” by Mr. Koh Kok Wai of T.Y. Lin International Sdn Bhd.
Each session included a Q&A segment, allowing participants to engage with the speakers. A short coffee break offered networking opportunities before the programme concluded at 1.00 p.m., followed by lunch. The speakers brought extensive expertise, including Ir. Chong Chew Fan’s two decades in electrical and instrumentation design, Ms. Zarini’s 25 years in financial risk and liability insurance, and Mr. Koh Kok Wai’s contributions to BIM development and major infrastructure projects.
