On October 26, 2024, the ACEM Talk for Practising Engineers 2024 was held at The Light Hotel Penang in Bandar Seberang Jaya, Penang, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event welcomed 18 participants, providing them with a valuable platform for networking and exchanging views on current issues affecting engineering practice. Chaired by Ir. Amirul Hisham b. Ismail, Chairman of the ACEM Membership Committee, the session opened with welcome remarks and an introduction of the distinguished speakers.
The first speaker, Ir. Sharifah Azlina Raja Kamal Pasmah, shared her vast expertise gained from 34 years of experience in urban infrastructure, transportation planning, and rail and transit systems, contributing significantly to local and international iconic projects. Mr. Michael Leong Wei Xin, a claims manager and loss adjuster with extensive experience in managing complex claims within sectors like BBBPI, Med Mal, and Engineering PI, discussed his expertise in liability and casualty, sharing insights into technical claim recoveries and risk management. Ir. Chong Chew Fan, with over 20 years in design, contract administration, and consultancy across electrical and instrumentation services, provided insights into sustainable design practices, housing, and infrastructure projects. This ACEM Talk successfully updated participants on current industry policies and regulations while facilitating knowledge exchange and professional growth among practising engineers.
