ACEM Sarawak organised a one-day seminar on “Guide to Fire Protection in Malaysia (3rd Revision): An In-Depth Elaboration on Active Fire Requirements and Its Interaction with Passive Fire Requirements” and “EV Charging Bays: BOMBA Guidelines on Fire Safety Requirements” on 17 July 2026 at the DCCI Seminar Room, Kuching.
The seminar was conducted by Ir. Chen Thiam Leong. Approximately 17 participants attended the seminar.
The seminar aimed to enhance engineers’ knowledge and understanding of the Third Revision of the Guide to Fire Protection in Malaysia, with particular emphasis on the updates introduced in the Guide and their application alongside the relevant requirements of the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL).
A dedicated session on electric vehicle (EV) charging provided participants with an overview of the relevant fire safety requirements and guidelines issued by BOMBA for EV charging bays. The session also addressed potential fire risks, safety considerations and appropriate fire protection measures associated with EV charging facilities.
