The Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications Sarawak (MUTS) invited representatives from the ACEM Sarawak Branch to attend the ceremony on the “Recognition of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) as a Training and Examination Centre for Gas and Electricity Competency Courses”, held on 5 May 2026 at DeTAR PUTRA, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan, Sarawak.
Ir. Ts. Jarvis Ling Sing Kieng represented the Branch at the ceremony, while Ir. Wong Sie Ung and Ir. Clarence Chieng Sie Yii attended by special invitation from MUTS.
The recognition of UNIMAS is expected to provide a more structured pathway for the training, assessment and certification of individuals contributing to the future development of the gas and electricity industries. Courses to be offered include Gas Fitter Class III and II, Wireman Grade 1 and 2, as well as renewable energy-related courses such as Solar PV Design and Chargeman L4 Solar.
