ACEM Sarawak Branch organized a technical talk in collaboration with the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak (MUTS) on 18 May 2026 at the ACEM Sarawak Branch Seminar Room, Kuching, Sarawak.

The topic of the talk was “Gas Competent Person & Gas Contractor under the Distribution of Gas Ordinance, 2021 and Distribution of Gas (Installation and Competency) Regulations, 2021 for the Gas Industry in Sarawak.”

The event was attended by approximately 31 engineers from various organizations. The talk was delivered by Mr. Solomon Benang Anak Rantai, representing the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak.

During the session, participants were provided with valuable insights into the regulatory framework governing gas competency and contractor requirements under the Distribution of Gas Ordinance, 2021 and the Distribution of Gas (Installation and Competency) Regulations, 2021. The presentation highlighted the roles, responsibilities, qualification requirements, and compliance obligations of Gas Competent Persons and Gas Contractors within Sarawak’s gas industry.

The talk concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to seek clarification on regulatory requirements and practical implementation matters. The programme was well received and provided a useful platform for engineers to enhance their understanding of the latest gas industry regulations in Sarawak.
