ACEM held the webinar “Delivering Underground Excellence: Innovations and Engineering Challenges in Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Projects” on 28 October 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon via Zoom, with 67 participants.

The webinar was presented by Ir. Kow Kah Loong, Managing Director of AECOM Malaysia. The session focused on underground infrastructure development, drawing on experience from the Klang Valley MRT Putrajaya Line.

Key topics included challenges associated with complex ground conditions, construction access, stakeholder requirements, and project delivery. The session also covered the application of building information modelling (BIM), common data environments (CDE), design automation and advanced tunnelling technologies in underground construction.

Durung the session, participants gained insights into underground construction challenges, digital engineering applications, and construction strategies for challenging geological conditions. They also developed a better understanding of transit-oriented developments (TODs) and the key considerations involved in planning and delivering complex MRT infrastructure projects.
